Hi, I’m Amy Jaramillo, the founder of Body Motion & Love Mechanics. My journey into pelvic health and birth education began long before I experienced pregnancy and childbirth myself. As an occupational therapist, I had already developed a strong foundation in understanding the body and movement. But it wasn’t until I started learning about pelvic health, pregnancy, and birth that I realized how critical these topics were—and how little they were discussed.
Before becoming a mother, I became deeply immersed in the world of pelvic health and women’s well-being. I learned about the pelvic floor, core health, and the profound impact that pregnancy and birth have on a woman’s body. The more I learned, the more I realized how many women are not given the proper education or support around these issues. Pelvic floor dysfunction, birth trauma, and postpartum recovery are often ignored or downplayed in mainstream healthcare, leaving women to face these challenges without adequate tools or understanding.
This knowledge led me to make a conscious decision to have homebirths for my own pregnancies. I knew that by educating myself thoroughly about my body, my pelvic health, and the birth process, I would be empowered to make informed choices about how I wanted to experience childbirth. I wanted to create a birth environment that was safe, supportive, and in alignment with my values, and for me, that meant trusting in my body and choosing a homebirth.
Through my studies, I also discovered the lack of proper care and education around pelvic health during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Many women I spoke with were unaware of how to prepare their bodies for birth or how to care for their pelvic floor afterward. It became clear to me that I needed to share this information, not just for my own journey, but for the benefit of other women who were navigating the same challenges.
So, I combined my background in occupational therapy with my newfound passion for pelvic health education. I founded Body Motion & Love Mechanics to provide women with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to take control of their pelvic health. I’ve worked to bridge the gap between therapy, education, and birth support, offering services that range from pelvic floor therapy to pregnancy and postpartum education, and even holistic programs like my REVIVE: Your Pelvic Floor & Core course.
Through my work, I’ve seen how powerful it can be for women to feel truly informed about their bodies and birth options. It’s not just about therapy—it’s about creating a community of women who feel empowered to make decisions about their health, trust their bodies, and experience birth in a way that’s right for them.
I believe that when we educate ourselves about our bodies and our health, we can make choices that honor our strength, resilience, and natural abilities. For me, it’s all about sharing this knowledge, supporting women through their journeys, and changing the narrative around pelvic health and birth.
